Our remote Christmas party : When experts jump in!

I thought I would share my recent experience as a business owner for those who are looking for a cool way to celebrate Christmas with your colleagues ( at this point, we thought we had tried every single idea when it came to video gatherings).

I have to admit that I was pretty sad to realize we couldn’t all get together at rhum to celebrate what has been a challenging year. Last year, teams from Montreal and Vancouver all flew to Mexico for a 4-day awesome retreat where we really connected. This year, this option was a bit out of the question for obvious reasons.

Puerto Vallarta, our last Christmas party!

We gave a lot of thoughts on how to make our 2020 celebrations safe, memorable and special despite the distance and we ran out of ideas. This was where we decided to call the expert event planners at Niché, who recently braved the covid storm, quickly making virtual events their trademark after their whole industry basically collapsed with the current pandemic.

Our brief was simple: we wanted to celebrate, play, be entertained and create a moment where we would really feel together and truly have fun in these strange times.

The team at Niché is surprising us this year and worked quite hard in building something quite unique for us (see pics below), with quite a unique theme: A Christmas Drhuma !!

Before the actual event, we were sent scripts and character descriptions, which we all need to learn and shoot a video with a coach ahead of time, in order to get ready for the main viewing event on December 17th : rhum’s very own Soap Opera, a Christmas Dhruma.

To give you a glimpse into the craziness here’s a snippet of our story where every team member is a character:

It’s Christmas Eve.

The famous playboy billionaire and owner of the RHUM agency (an international modelling agency) Scotch

Sharknado hosts his employees and friends for a Christmas celebration at his mansion in...Verdun.

Upon arrival at the venue, the guests discuss and discover the unusual ties that unite them. As friends and

family wait for the arrival of the host, they receive the news of the passing of Scotch that very morning. His

will is to be revealed at midnight, for Christmas. Who has killed Mr. Sharknado? Everyone in this room is a

suspect. Who will inherit Mr. Sharknado’s sought-after gifts? Welcome to Christmas Drhuma!

During the evening which will actually be hosted by an MC, aside from watching the episode of our Soap, we’ll share cool stories, play games and celebrates the year highlights.

Good times ahead! Stay tuned!

What will you do for your team celebrations? Feel free to share your ideas!
